During this full-day kayaking tour you’ll explore the rich natural environment of Evans River, just 60 minutes south of Byron Bay. Kayaking is a great way to develop an appreciation for nature in an adventurous yet relaxed atmosphere. Learn about the native flora and fauna and local history!
In the morning we will pick you up from your accommodation in the Byron Bay, Ballina or Lismore area. You’ll enjoy a very scenic coastal drive to Evans Head, stopping off for a tour at the Australian Seabird Rescue headquarters in Ballina. Here you see how volunteers locate, rehabilitate and care for distressed seabirds, turtles and other marine life, before releasing them into the wild.
When we arrive at Evans Head we’ll have lunch and you’ll be given a safety and instructional briefing. We will then head off on a very relaxed yet adventurous kayak tour along the beautiful Evans River.
Paddling through the rich Bundjalung National Park, you will get up close and personal with many birds – including large birds of prey – spot wildlife, visit Aboriginal midden sites and appreciate the diversity of native plants, trees and flowers along the way.
We will then stop for a swim and refreshments upriver before making our way back to Evans Head, kayaking with the tide.
But the day doesn’t end there! We’ll also visit Goanna Headland lookout and show you Chinaman’s Beach.
At the end of the day we will drop you back at your accommodation for a well-earned rest!
